7 Reasons to Love Storyteller Marketing

7 Reasons to Love Storyteller Marketing

There’s no denying that stories are powerful, which is why storyteller marketing should be an integral part of your overall marketing strategy. If you’re still on the fence, let us count the reasons (well, at least seven reasons) why everyone should love (and embrace) storyteller marketing.

1. Storyteller Marketing Makes Your Brand More Memorable

Have you ever stood next to someone in line at the coffee shop and had them strike up a conversation with you? Sure you have. Now, think about which of those occasions or people you actually remember. It’s the people who shared a story with you. Even if it was just a snippet, you’re more likely to remember that person. The same is true for any brand and storyteller marketing. By telling a story, you make yourself more memorable.

2. Storyteller Marketing Helps Audiences Get to Know You Better

Consequently, those stories also help audiences get to know you—really get to know you—and what you’re about better. This enables them to better determine if you are the right brand for whatever their needs are. The advantage here is that neither of you spend time trying to build relationships with one another only to realize that you’re not compatible.

 3. Stories Have a Lasting Emotional Impact

In addition to making you more memorable and to helping audiences get to know you, stories also help audiences develop strong, often positive, feelings for your brand. Why? Because stories speak to us intellectually and emotionally. We remember how a story makes us feel far longer than we remember exactly what happened in the story.

4. Great Stories Keep Audiences Coming Back for More

When you’ve reached your audience on that deeper level and have hit them at their emotional core, then they’re more likely to come back to you—without the need for constant reminders. In other words, effective storyteller marketing means you don’t have to spin your wheels or spend your dollars constantly throwing yourself in front of your audience, so they remember that you’re there (never mind that audiences find that marketing tactic to be off putting).

5. Storyteller Marketing Leads to Better Engagement

In fact, with storyteller marketing, many of your audience members will seek you out. Good storyteller marketing leads to more meaningful engagement, which is a good thing. Facebook, Google searches, etc. are driven by engagement. Stories compel audiences to spend more time reading or interacting with content, which boosts your ratings. By using stories in your marketing strategy, you encourage audiences to spend more time consuming your content, coming back for more, and engaging with your content. True story.

6. Storyteller Marketing Can Be Done in Any Medium

Stories do all of this in a variety of lengths and mediums. While the word story might cause you to think of the books you read as a kid or of thousand-plus word short stories, a great story can be told in a few words or in an image or a video. In fact, the best storyteller marketing incorporates multiple mediums for maximum effectiveness.

7. Stories Get Shared More

Lastly, when you do tell great stories, your content gets shared more. Why? Because people relate to stories. They share the stories because it helps others understand them, and the stories help those sharing them express their identity. Like we said, people connect emotionally with stories; people like to share stories that made them feel something. They use stories to create connections with others, which in turn, if you’re the one who told the story in the first place, comes back to you.
