Client Spotlight: Seaside Neighborhood School Half Marathon and 5K

The Seaside School Half Marathon and 5K Run presented by Vera Bradley is one of 30A’s most anticipated annual fundraising events with proceeds supporting technology, robotics, art, dance, music, foreign language, and teachable class sizes for the Seaside School. The event’s 16th annual race is March 2-4, 2018 and features a weekend of events from the fun (and delicious) Taste of the Race with Emeril Lagasse experience to the expo to the big run itself.

Taste & Race for a Cause

The Seaside School is a small, two-campus charter school serving students grades 5-12 in South Walton, Walton County for over 20 years. The Seaside School was ranked number eight among Florida public schools by the Department of Education. It’s events like Taste of the Race –along with the wonderful students-- that make that kind of honor possible.

The Seaside Neighborhood School Half Marathon and 5K fundraiser was launched in 2003 and has rapidly ballooned into one of the most fun and rewarding charitable activities on 30A (and trust us, there are a lot of amazing groups giving back on 30A).

Start with a Taste of the Race

The event weekend kicks off on Friday, March 2 with Taste of the Race, a celebration of coastal cuisine, fine wine, craft beer, and craft spirits. Hosted under a heated big top on the Seaside School campus with live music, Taste of the Race is the ultimate pre-race party. Grab tickets now to join the fun. There are VIP and general admission tickets available.

  • VIP Reception with Chef Emeril Lagasse – The VIP reception takes place from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2. Chefs Emeril Lagasse, Jim Shirley, and Jim Richard participate in the reception. Chef Emeril will perform a special cooking demo for VIP guests while guests enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Guests will receive a free gift and will enjoy special VIP entrance to the general admission grand tasting.
  • Taste of the Race Event -- Join Chef Emeril Lagasse and enjoy cuisine from Emeril’s Coastal Italian restaurant, Great Southern Café, The Bay, Stinky’s Fish Camp, But & Alley’s, and other best-loved coastal restaurants in a festive tasting event you won’t soon forget.

Socialize at the Packet Pick-Up & Race Expo

On Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 12:00-6:00 p.m. meet with the race’s sponsors at the Seaside Lyceum and pick up your race day packet. Plan to make an afternoon of exploring the expo and then strolling and shopping in the charming Seaside community. If you’ve never experienced Seaside or the Seaside Neighborhood School Half Marathon and 5K, there are lots of places to eat, to grab a drink, to shop, or to kick back.

Set Your Pace & Run the Seaside School Half Marathon & 5K Race

The race starts bright and early at the Seaside Post Office on Scenic Hwy 30-A on Sunday, March 4 with the half marathon kicking off at 7:00 a.m. and the 5K race starting at 7:25 a.m.  It’s a fun, celebratory atmosphere with lots of happy people excited to run the picturesque stretch of coastal 30A. Post-race, celebrate with your fellow runner at the party where there will be live music, a full post-race meal, and free beer.

It’s a weekend that people never forget and look forward to every year. Runners from all over the country migrate to 30A for the Seaside School Half Marathon & 5K Run. Needless to say, tickets go quickly, so get your race tickets now and come spend the first weekend of March this 2018 on 30A, making a difference in the lives of South Walton school children.
